Respirator Fit Testing Training & QNFT
Helix Environmental’s staff can provide qualitative and quantitative fit testing of personal respiratory protection to measure the effectiveness of the respiratory protective equipment, and if the respirator does not fit or is ineffective, Helix Environmental will offer alternative choices to identify the best respirator for that individual.
For workers exposed to toxic agents like asbestos, acids, lead, arsenic, cyanide, silica, hexavalent chromium, mold, solvents, etc. we strongly encourage quantitative fit testing for the protection of both the employer and employee.
Workers that utilize air purifying respirators (APRs) as part of their personal protective equipment must be trained in its proper use and meet other associated regulatory requirements like performing annual fit tests. Helix Environmental’s experienced staff will help you produce a written respiratory protection program for your site, select the proper APRs for the application, train your workers in the proper use of the APR, and perform quantitative fit testing (QNFT) of the individual workers.
Our service is efficient, and the training and quantitative fit testing can be performed in less than 30 minutes per person. We can perform this testing at your site. Helix Environmental will maintain a record of the fit test, and re-train and re-test the workers as required OSHA. Our service would follow the required medical approval for the individual worker to use an APR, and this documentation must be in place before we can proceed with the fit testing. We can assist you in acquiring this medical approval via a local health care provider.
